U.S. Department of State officials joined a member of the U.S. House of Representatives and local mayors in a ribbon-cutting October 26 to mark the inauguration of the Miami Passport Agency at its new location at the Omni Center in downtown Miami.
Dignitaries attending the event included Congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos Alvarez and Miami Garden Mayor Shirley Gibson, Under Secretary of State for Management Patrick F. Kennedy, Assistant Secretary of State for Consular Affairs Janice L. Jacobs and Managing Director for Passport Services Florence G. Fultz.
On May 26, 2009, the Miami Passport Agency began operations at its new, more accessible facility, which includes more than twice as many windows at its public counter than the previous facility. The new facility greatly enhances the Department’s ability to meet the travel needs of citizens residing in Florida, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
