(MIAMI (CBS4) Bystanders broke into spontaneous applause as former Cuban political prisoner Ariel Sigler was released from Jackson Memorial Hospital Thursday, after spending a month of critical treatment and therapy.
"I feel very strong. I feel spiritually strong and emotionally strong. I'm happy to be going home," Sigler said.
Sigler remains in a wheelchair, paralyzed from the waist down. He was released from a Cuban prison last month. He served seven years in the gulag for his political views and activism. He was allowed to come to Miami on a humanitarian visa and is now barred from returning to Cuba. (read more)
