Namibia pierde 18 millones de dólares, al comprar vacunas cubanas sin certificación internacional ...

(Namibian Sun) AN EMOTIONAL Health Minister Dr Richard Nchabi Kamwi yesterday pleaded with the media “not to tarnish my good image by telling lies,” but left journalists in the dark on what exactly happened that taxpayers have to cough up N$18 million for the wrong vaccine ordered from Cuba.

“For now, may God bless you. I forgave you despite the misery you caused to my family and the unbearable pain I went through,” said Dr Kamwi, but at the same time admitted “that as a human being, I make mistakes, just like any other human beings.” The Minister denied that he personally ordered the Heberpenta vaccine that is produced by the Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology in Cuba but is not a World Health Organisation pre-qualified product. (Namibia Sun) A HIGH-LEVEL investigation is to be launched into the purchase of the Herberpenta Pentavalent Vaccine worth N$18 million from Cuba that cannot be used in Namibia and has now been donated back to the island country.

Health Minister Dr Richard Kamwi confirmed that Cabinet has decided to launch an investigation into the ordering of the wrong consignment of vaccine that is produced by the Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology in Cuba but is not a World Health Organisation prequalified product.
