Miami… (October 30, 2012) Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Miami is accepting monetary donations to assist the victims in Santiago de Cuba, and other areas of Cuba affected by Hurricane Sandy.
The latest report has over 330,000 people evacuated with no final numbers as to the amount of damage in the residential sectors, agriculture and infrastructure.
Deacon Richard Turcotte, executive director of Catholic Charities, has asked that all donations be made through the Archdiocese of Miami Catholic Charities’ website, www.ccadm.org.
Archbishop Thomas Wenski is solidifying the coordination of aid to Cuba with CARITAS and Catholic Relief Services, an agency of the United States Catholic Conference of Bishops (USCCB).
In addition, the Archdiocese is awaiting information from Catholic Charities USA, also an agency of the USCCB, on how best to assist the millions of people affected by Hurricane Sandy in the Northeast.
