(Miami) Miguel Rodez Art Projects presents "Sexual Currents"

Satuday, March 16, 2013
Miguel Rodez Art Projects
 4229 SW 75 Ave, 2nd Floor
 Miami FL 33155

Granted the invitation is a bit racy, but, despite appearances, Sexual Currents is not a lust ladened exhibit. Think of it as a visual magazine containing articles touching upon different currents of human sexuality, some serious, some introspective, some mysterious, some humorous ... Some of the images are erotic and others simply make a statement about some aspect of sex or society's views toward sexuality. The idea is to get people to think about different way of expressing sensuality, regardless of whether one is heterosexual, homosexual or somewhere in between.

It is difficult to predict the sensibilities of potential viewers. What may be vanilla to some, may taste like chilli peppers to others. Thus, most galleries exercise a high degree of self-censorship and shun the subject altogether. That is a disservice to the community. Sexual Currents chooses instead to present a classy contemporary treatment of human sensuality.

WARNING:
It is understood that some people find any treatment of the subject of sex highly offensive, particularly those with minors. Some of the pieces have sexual content, which although artistic in nature, may be too strong for some viewers. We respect your sensibilities and suggest that you visit some of the other wonderful studios, galleries and art project spaces in the area during the artwalk and pass us by. We respect your sensibilities. Please respect ours.

ABOUT THE BIRD ROAD ART WALK:
In 2011, Miami New Times ranked The Bird Road Art Walk as the Best Art Walk in the Miami Metropolitan area, and we have been growing and improving ever since. Visitors to the area will find a thriving community of artists who open their studios, art galleries, project spaces, art schools and even a live theater stage to the public on the third Saturday of each month from 7:00 – 10:00 pm. The Art Walk takes place just East of the Palmetto Expressway's 40th Street Exit and South of 40th Street (Also known as "Bird Road"). During the monthly art walk visitors have the opportunity to meet the artists and visit their studios, which are normally open by appointment only. The next Art Walk will take place on Saturday, March 16, 2013.

Sexual Currents will be on view at the Miguel Rodez Art Projects during the March 16, 2013 Bird Road Art Walk.
