(Miami) The ArtLink Gallery presents Rafael Lopez-Ramos’ Wonderland Series

The ArtLink Gallery is pleased to present Miami based artist Rafael Lopez-Ramos, who will exhibit for the first time in Miami his works from the WONDERLAND Series, premiered last year at the 17 Frost Art Space, in Brooklyn, NY. In this new series, Lopez-Ramos analyzes the recurrence of sex in commercial advertising, and women in their double roll as a target and a commodified “object of desire” for those ad campaigns. As Marshall McLuhan noted, “the ad men are constantly breaking through into the Alice in Wonderland territory behind the looking glass, which is the world of sub-rational impulses and appetites.” This sex narrative carries a dark metaphor of our zeitgeist, while emulating the obscenity level of certain social, economic and political events we are currently witnessing: Sex served as a side dish for finances and politics. As Joaquin Badajoz wrote, “Rafael Lopez-Ramos’ Wonderland Series (...) hits right in the center of the social conundrum: our modern condition as citizens and consumers (also producers of legality and consumerism) entwined with our sexual and erotic nature.”

WONDERLAND exhibition will be on view from September 14th to October 5th at The ArtLink Gallery. (GRAPHIC CONTENT, VIEWER DISCRETION IS ADVISED)

Opening reception: September 14th from 7 PM to 10 PM

The ArtLink Gallery is located in the Wynwood Arts District at 130 NW 36 Street Miami FL 33127.
