About Robert McKnight:

To many Robert McKnight is an artists' artist. Born in Kingstree SC, McKnight moved to Miami with his family at the age of two. From the time he was a child he excelled in art, first studying painting at The Miami Art Center and then at Syracuse University where he received a BFA in Painting. While at Syracuse he studied sculpture in London at the Sir John Cass School of Art as part of his course study. Upon his return to Miami he was immediately hired by Miami Metro Zoo as an exhibit designer for the exciting first phases of Miami’s then new zoo.

Robert McKnight is an accomplished artist who has realized a wide range of major public artworks in his career many in Miami such as the wood collage panels at the North County Health Center (for Metro-Dade Art in Public Spaces). McKnight's’ work has been featured in countless solo exhibitions and group shows both locally and internationally.

As a member of The Miami Black Artist Workshop in the 1970’s and KUUMBA Artist Association, McKnight has worked to generate opportunities for greater professional visibility for African-American and African artist. McKnight says, “My mission as an artist is to create works that are individual in style and content reflecting my heart and soul”. McKnight has constantly paid tribute to his cultural heritage in his efforts and on behalf of other artists.

MANO Fine Art Project Space is the working studio of Miami-based artist MANO and an exhibition and project space for art related events. MANO Fine Art is one of the founding members of the Bird Road Art Walk that is held on the third Saturday of each month.
