(Miami) "Visual Poetry Project" at Miguel Rodez Art Projects

VISUAL ARTISTS AND POETS UNITE

The Visual Poetry Project is as much about the viewer's imagination as it is about the artist's imagination. The Project invites viewers to comment on, discuss, criticize or be inspired by what they see. Writers, poets, or simply those who enjoy reading may just find themselves drawn to the Visual Poetry Project, a fine arts exhibit that explores meaning through a combination of text from viewers and visual stimulation from the artist. Meaning is often dependent on the viewer's experience. Miguel Rodez has created a series of untitled monotypes that incite multiple interpretations. Thus, what a particular piece may mean to one person may be different or even the contrary to someone else's interpretation of the work. This project invites viewers to share in writing what the pieces mean to them. Such meaning may be expressed by suggesting a title, by writing a description, by criticizing the work, or by using the piece as a source of poetic inspiration. Those interested in writing a one word title are just as welcome as those who delve into the use of linguistic aesthetics to express meanings that span beyond the realm of words. The artworks will hang on the walls at Miguel Rodez Art Projects, while viewers will have access to pens, to paper, and to an opportunity to donate thoughts that explore the artwork's meaning. Everyone is welcome.

For Example: for the banner image, viewers may give the piece a title or answer the questions, who are these people? Where are they? Why are they there? What are the seeking? How do they relate to each other? How does one relate to them? What effect do they have on you? Does the monotype suck or is it well done? Etc. Alternatively, one may choose to create a thought provoking poem about the piece.

NOTICE:

I am planning to publish a catalogue or book of monotypes, including some of the monotypes that will be exhibited at the show. When I do, I will be using some of the suggested titles, poems, descriptions, criticism and other text donated by the viewers. I would be glad to give credit to the authors of the donated text. So, please write your contribution clearly, including the correct spelling of your name.
