Several hundred donated used wine corks are needed to create a sculpture for an event that is being planned for September 2016. Because the sculpture is an homage to the love, friendship, and fraternity associated with wine, the artist cannot buy the corks. Only corks donated in the spirit of kindness can be accepted. It is a collaboration of the artist, friends, colleagues and the community at large. Therefore, the artist must depend on the love, kindness, pity even, of friends and strangers to be able to complete the sculpture. One objective is to recycle a natural products that is usually discarded as worthless, into a piece of art.
The first wine cork drop-off event will take place at Miguel Rodez Art Projects this Saturday, April 30, 2016, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Refreshments will be served and the guests will be treated to an art show. Please bring your used wine corks if you wish to donate them for the project.
